Position Overview
Apex is currently accepting applications for a Quality Inspector within its Aerospace Component Manufacturing Group for an evening shift. Reporting to Inspection Supervisor, the primary role of this full-time position is to perform the day-to-day inspection activities to conform product in support of production.  This position regularly interacts with production employees, front line supervisors, and office staff to ensure program compliance. Some weekend work or overtime may be required and training will be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Perform duties and activities for first article, incoming, in-process and final inspections including, but not limited to, mechanical inspection, inspection sampling, testing and investigation.
  • Hardness & conductivity testing.
  • Control & disposition of non-conforming product.
  • Support preparation & completion of first article inspection reporting (FAI).
  • Support Quality Assurance/Control Programs procedures and processes.
  • Lead and/or participate in root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.
  • Maintain inspection records.
  • Initiate and champion quality investigations to support corrective actions, failure analysis, etc.
  • Participate in process improvement.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Very comfortable using computers and MS Word/Excel and Power Point.
  • Knowledge of quality standards i.e. ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9102, etc.
  • Familiarity with inspection tooling and gauges.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
  • Highly motivated and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented, well organized & capable of working in a team environment.
  • Ability to use or learn to use 3D CAD software (i.e. Catia, Solid Works, Auto Cad etc.).
  • Efficient problem solver and decision maker.

Assets
  • Experience in a machine shop/manufacturing environment would be considered an asset.
  • Experience performing dimensional inspections on machined, fabricated, or assembled components.
  • Experience using Syspro ERP system or similar MRP/ERP functions.
  • Post-secondary: Trade skills or equivalent work experience in manufacturing or Aerospace Industry.
  • Experience involving the application of applied quality concepts.
  • CMM operating and programming experience.
